Other arrests below - Over 1/2 Million Embezzled. April 6, 2010. A Tucson Police Department detective facing computer tampering charges was fired Tuesday, authorities said. Edwin Richards, a 16-year veteran, was indicted Friday on six counts of computer tampering, according to a department news release. He was notified of the indictment at the same time he was given a notice of intent to terminate, the release said. Richards is alleged to have accessed restricted computer databases, according to the release. And internal investigation began in November, and after misconduct was found the investigation was forwarded to the Pima County Attorney's Office, according to the release. Richards is the second TPD officer and third Tucson-area law enforcement officer indicted on computer tampering charges in the past four months. TPD officer Angel Montalvo, 30, was indicted Feb. 2 on nine counts of computer tampering and one count each of taking the identity of another, fraudulent schemes and artifices and aggravated taking the identity of another. In December Marana officer Calvin Ingram, 39, was indicted on 25 counts of computer tampering and one count each of trafficking in the identity of another person and one count of taking the identity of another person.
