Not Just Another Dog in the Crowd

dog-4Your dog is special unique to you. There is a special bond between dog and owner. So it’s no wonder that everyone thinks there dog is special. When it comes to naming your dog you want everyone to notice him, this is why many of us want to choose a distinctive name for out pet dog. The possibilities for dog names are endless. Some are named after their owners favorite things, others are given names of objects they resemble and some are named for either a physical or behavioral characteristic they have. With all of the possible inspirations it should be pretty easy to give your dog a name that is distinctively his own.

Are There Any Things That You Should Not Name Your Dog?

Really the only things we get to name in life are our children and our pets. Some people name their cars but their cars never have to answer to the name that the owner gives it. Dogs and of course kids will at one point surely have their name spoken in public, others will hear it and make a judgment based on their name. In fact others may have to call your dog by its name, such as a trainer or the veterinarian.

Rules to Name By

With that being the case the only real rule to naming your dog is how comfortable will you be saying it and how uncomfortable will it make others. This is why it is best not to choose a vulgar, offensive or profane name for your dog. Although you might think it is funny it could be potentially offensive to others, and will affect how they view your dog.

Besides if you are looking for a little levity in the name you select there are more creative ways to achieve it. Remember have fun with naming your dog but also consider how the name you choose will be perceived by others.

Need a Fresh Start? DALLAS v. HOUSTON

city-of-dallasSometimes it's hard to believe that Dallas and Houston are in the same country, let alone in the same state. The two metropolitan areas have as many differences as they do commonalities. Both are home to some of America's largest corporate giants. Both have experienced rapid growth as people are drawn to the allure of warm weather and low taxes. Both enjoy a wide swath of cultural influences and fine dining options. Both boast professional sports franchises that have hoisted championship banners.

WHERE DALLAS HAS THE EDGE

One area in which these two great cities diverge is in the area of prices and available locations. For starters, the rental rates for Dallas apartments are consistently 10 to 20 percent less than they are in Houston's inner-loop area. Dallas is also considered more of a "high-rise" city, compared to Houston's weightier "mid-rise" market. Dallas has more of its downtown and uptown space dedicated to apartment living, which both fosters and takes advantage of the density and pedestrian-friendly nature of downtown Dallas. For some, it may just be a matter of opinion, or of taste. The discerning tenant will dig deeper than that, and will be rewarded in Dallas.

CLOSER TO THE ACTION

Houses in the suburbs are a wonderful part of the American dream, but in places like Dallas, apartments just make more sense. The variety, modernity and convenience of living in either uptown or downtown Dallas lends the kind of ease to living that cannot be found in another large American cities. The advantages to renting an apartment in Dallas are manifold, giving Big D an edge over its counterparts both in and out of the Lone Star State.
